APF's hard-fought victory over Madhesh, Kamal Singh's all-round performance


13 March Kathmandu. APF has achieved a hard-fought victory in the ongoing Prime Minister's Cup Men's National Cricket Tournament in Lumbini Province. APF defeated Madhesh Province by 2 wickets at the Deukhuri Cricket Stadium.

APF achieved the target of 169 runs set by Madhesh in 36.5 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Kamal Singh Airi hit the winning six to give APF the victory. He scored an unbeaten 28 runs with the help of 3 sixes. Before that, Sumit Maharjan scored 35 and Asif Sheikh scored 34 runs.

Kamal Gupta of Madhesh Pradesh took 4 wickets for 40 runs including 1 maiden in 10 overs. Pradeep Paswan took 2 wickets for 28 runs including 1 maiden. Rupesh Singh and Harishankar Shah took 1 wicket each. 

Earlier, Madhesh Pradesh, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, were all out for 168 runs in 40.4 overs. Apart from Pawan Sarraf, who scored the highest score of 77 runs, there was no strong batting from anyone else.

Captain Anil Sah scored 17, Mayan Yadav scored 11, and Rupesh Singh and Pradeep Paswan scored 10 each. The others failed to touch double figures.

For APF, Kamal Singh Airi took 4 wickets for 55 runs in 9 overs. Bhuwan Karki and Rohit Poudel took 2 wickets each and Abhishek Gautam took 1 wicket. 

APF defeated Bagmati Pradesh in the first match. Madhesh defeated Koshi in the first match.
